Dane Messall, Lead Designer

Neil Yarnal, CD, Senior Designer & Illustrator

SOLUTION:

Our talented, distributed team is extremely hands-on. Working with and enhancing the toolkit Studio Lo (Larry Olson) built in 2021, we have moved beyond the logo and entry Brand Systems to...

  • Define the BrightAI SmartCity, an illustrated concept presented to BrightAI to help turn complex subjects into bite-size narratives
This was an intentional narrative concept, as Co-Founders stemmed from Samsung SmartThings
  • Create a useable, flexible icon framework working with the Noun Project. This encourages decentralized models, increasing Brand Accessibility for internal Creatives & pedestrians, alike.
  • Increase the usability and customization of the BrightAI Brand—building deeper Brand rules, guidelines, and systems for formatting across platforms like Mailchimp, Google Slides, Docs, and custom designs within Adobe Illustrator
  • Continue to encourage a hands-on, Iterative Brand Model— studying and restructuring internal Creative pipeline as needed

Mecha

MECHA approached Neil, winter of 2017, to rebrand. A 30 day sprint with onsite Design— Neil sat with Co-Founders in their evolving space to Design a Brand Experience focused on light. Neil found focus with Mecha Clients, Consultants, & Internal Employees through strategized group-based thinking, application, and study sessions.

Designed Restraint

Boulder hosts bodies and minds that demand elite visions. Asking "how do we hold space?"

The intensity of a Mecha workout might break you. You might walk off the machine, legs shaking, and laugh then cry. Building a brand that holds its customers —it's imperative that the Mecha Brand upholds its support & inspiration with each wick of sweat.

How a short 30-day build could operate with equal capability as a Mecha workout. Tight bursts of inspiration; community, support, energy. The zing of peppermint on your nostrils as you push through why you're there in the first place. Two rooms— one dark and guttural. The other light, airy. Full of grapefruit and diffused light. The lobby draws you in, creates community...  off you go.

Mecha was the first definition of Felt Value. A standardized approach to introducing a Brand ID through light, smell, & sound when you're in the hot seat. A crisp logo, etc. when you're viewing Mecha through the digital lens. Placing Mecha The Brand in the backseat, Mecha The Community endlessly builds itself through tight, trusted, and well-established communal toolkit experiences .
