Who Neil Is...

Technically trained in Painting & Drawing—Neil is absolutely obsessed with how tooling drives what we* create. Biking & walking for local transportation in Boulder, CO, Neil finds inspiration when elements are unforgiving and gear is tough. Finding joy in the simplicities of life—Neil believes...

Tooling Creates Truth*

Each tool used in the Creative process provides a limited output. Learning these limitations over time builds true self-expression.

Tooling Applies Study*

The more we use a tool, the more knowledge we gain. How to hold a paint brush or when to click a mouse is relative to our* pursuit & care.

Tooling Requires Trust*

Finding trust within the tools we use is human nature. When tooling sucks — we often organically modify it to work better for us. This is magic.

Tooling Builds Futures*

From the fires that lit up the caves of our ancestors to this digital text read here—tooling is the future in motion, in hand. In mind. In question.

Neil thrives in complex environments, studying and examining and connecting dots until he’s able to make sense of it - no matter the medium. This in essence is how I view all of Neil’s interdisciplinary work. Be it painting, drawing, graphic design, sculpture, video or strategy work. Neil works and works until he finds the underlying idea, then imbues it with all of its beautiful meaning and emotion.

01

Figma

I never really got into Figma until everyone was on the bandwagon. My career started out building Experiential Brands & for Industries like Motion Design...

Figma is a new and exciting tool. I like its collaborative & transparent nature.

02

Photography

Always on the end of creating narratives with paint and pen— photography is a new visual medium.

I've fallen in love with its quick nature. This form of image making is vulnerable and new. I like that raw, fizzy burst of energy... it reminds me of when I first started.

Reading & Data Visualization

Memories, Dreams, Reflections, by CG Jung. Gifted by a new client & colleague —this book has me thinking.

Wading through Build, An Unorthadox Guide To Making Things Worth Making by Tony Fadell

My career started in Data Visualization. That's been fun to bring back in my public Design career (versus solely for business theory & strategy).
