Local*s First Operator
Local*s first operator, Neil, is focused on developing ever-inclusive multi-media experiences.
The goal with Local* was to create a "safe space" for operators to plug in, find value from, and define futures with. Creating an entity for yourself that is not yourself requires a lot of time spent on figuring out how to cellularly split. Shrapnel of Neil @ Local* is undoubtedly embedded into the company—its' not so much about that, I learned to realize. Rather, Local* as an entity acts in a way I aspire to be. Kind. Giving. Focused on value and betterment of the greater good—equal to its individual parts. Sure, these are values I share... but to a degree. I, as an employee @ Local*, aspire to be profitable for different reasons. Be able to pivot and collaborate and share IP in different realms outside of the Local* focus.
Local* provides supporting frameworks. In fact, Local*s Operation Agreement aims to further build these supportive frameworks into the very soul of its corporate structures; baking diversity of approach into its operation algorithms. (publicly) moving Local* [a private company] between LLC, C-Corp, and a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC)— I can truly say Local* is invested in transparent growth; a critical issue seen as hierarchies and futures shift.
Prior to Local*, I often worked at Corporate jobs, or held Freelance Consultant stints for no more than a year. While I found gratitude in steady paychecks, perks, and team camaraderie— I increasingly found the glass ceiling. Being a transdisciplinary thinker— a Generalist who can operate as a Specialist; the instability of these positions didn't feel sustainable for the long-haul. Truthfully, I learned a lot from plugging into these forms of Creative Pipeline, Business Strategy, and Cultural Development... it just wasn't for me.
Listening to audio books like Build; An Unorthodox Guide to Making Things Worth Making, by Tony Fadell, I've come to understand that yielding lasting products takes time, blood, sweat, tears, soul, and most importantly, emotional intelligence. As Local*s first operator, I feel it imperative to express my gratitude for a value-focused, ever-evolving system that I can plug-in to, separate from, and find further support by. My goal is to be employed by Local* for the rest of my life, helping Local* find sustainable Equality of Impact into the hearts, lives, and souls of (public), [partial), and [private] entities, missions, and visions.
To date, I've been employed by Local* for 2 years and 7 months.
